Story

Next month is my 80th & I’m doing a 5k park run on Saturday, 20th September. Instead of gifts, my wish is for family & friends to donate to a Charity very close to my heart, Dementia Research UK to find new drugs & discover a cure one day. If you would like to sponsor me, please give whatever you can afford. Thank you!

Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning — thinking, remembering, and reasoning — to such an extent that it interferes with a person's daily life and activities. Some people with dementia cannot control their emotions, and their personalities may change. Help support the University's research to find new treatments and therapies.

Researchers at the University of Plymouth are leading the way in making dementia as a global priority. An estimated 850,000 people in the UK are currently living with this devastating illness, a figure which is set to double in the next 30 years. The University of Plymouth is leading research into how we can improve the quality of life for those living with dementia.
