I'm running the Manchester Marathon for St Barnabas Hospice

adidas Manchester Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I’ll be running Manchester Marathon 2025 in memory of my incredible dad. As I lace up my running shoes, my aim is to raise funds for St Barnabas Hospice—a cause that holds a special place in my heart.
In November 2021, my dad lost his two year battle with cancer. He was first diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2019 and despite being given the all clear early 2021, by November that same year the cancer had returned, metastasized to the brain and we were sadly told it was a terminal diagnosis. Throughout this difficult time, St Barnabas Hospice were there, offering unwavering support.
From the moment of his terminal diagnosis until the very end, St Barnabas provided not only compassionate end-of-life care to my dad but also invaluable assistance to our entire family - offering solace and guidance through the grieving process.
Thanks to their tireless efforts, we were able to create lasting and loving memories in my dad's final months, with St Barnabas supplying necessary care, equipment, and assistance. With their round-the-clock care, they also made it possible for him to spend his final days at home, surrounded by family. For this, we will be forever grateful.
While various nurses and charities played roles in my dad's battle with cancer, St Barnabas were a constant presence, going above and beyond and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to such an amazing charity.
Every day, we feel my dad's absence, he is dearly missed by family and friends. This marathon is a huge challenge for me (and admittedly, I am a little bit scared) but knowing it's for him and this great cause keeps me going. Wish me luck!
**Update**: Due to injury, sadly I can no longer participate in Berlin Marathon 2024 and will now be running the Manchester Marathon 2025.
