Eleanor's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Research UK

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
The year was 2021 when we received the news that would forever change our family's life. Dad had been diagnosed with dementia.
Now, a little over three years later Dad's repetitive questions have become the soundtrack of our lives. They echo through the once-familiar rooms of our family home, a constant reminder of the thief that has stolen his memory. Each time he asks, "Where is my phone” or “What are we having for dinner?” it is as if my brothers and I are reliving a painful déjà vu.
And that is why I'm running the London Marathon on the 21st of April and raising money for Alzheimer’s Research. Because Dementia doesn’t just effect the person who has it. It also effects the people around them.
