Hi, my name is Eleanor Franchitti

I have been selected as one of 12 jockeys to race in this year's Goodwood Magnolia Cup on Thursday 1st August 2024.

I am beyond honoured to be invited to compete for such an important charity on such a prestigious course. To do so with such an impressive group of women who are fast becoming friends is a real dream.

Having always loved horses and racing I wanted to push myself to do something completely different and combine these two interests so this is quite the experience.

Whilst training so far has been tough it’s also been amazing. I am now in the best shape of my life and can pick up and put down far heavier things than I thought possible. Fortunately I’m now at a level to pass the fitness tests required. The riding… that’s a totally different experience to normal and quite the challenge!

Most importantly to do this in aid of the work that my sister‘s house does in supporting vulnerable women and helping them to create a path forward for themselves and their families away from abuse is incredible. To be able to bring recognition (and much needed funds) to such an essential and under supported area is an honour.
