Story
Hi from Sam, Rosie and Elly (sisters),
We are continuing in the footsteps of our Uncle, Dr Hugh Austin Windle Pilkington, who set up the Windle Charitable Trust in 1977 to educate and support refugees and needy Kenyans. This has grown exponentially to encompass Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia supporting refugees from across the entire region - and has become Windle International.
We are walking a marathon of 26 miles from Oxford to Brightwell-cum-Sotwell this Saturday 14th September. This is to raise funds to help over 150,000 girls per year to continue in secondary education. Much more is needed to prevent drop out due to basic lack of security, dormitories, period poverty etc. The mission is to create lasting change and transformation in society.
A statement from Hope……
Without the support of Windle International, I would not have been able to continue my education beyond primary school. Now I have trained as a nurse and am supporting my community - providing much needed medical assistance in the refugee settlements. Windle provided a dormitory for me - and gave me hope, like my name!
Any donation however small will make a difference to the life chances of these teenage girls and the challenging circumstances they find themselves in.
