Eleanor Laird is raising money for Abigail's Footsteps
In memory of Max Arthur Godolphin

Multiple

A baby loss charity providing support for bereaved families and bereavement training for healthcare professionals. One of our greatest contributions has been the creation and funding of the Abi cooling cot which allows parents valuable time to spend with their baby before saying goodbye.

Story

So we chose Abigail’s because they helped us out when we lost our son Max last June. Max was born bang on time at 40 weeks, he was fit and healthy up until I went into labour on my due date. We had counselling with Naomi through Abigail’s, and also made use of an Abigail’s cold cot at St Thomas’s. Unfortunately because I was so ill we didn’t get to spend much time with Max but I can see how valuable the cold cots would be for families that are able to utilise them to the fullest.

We were referred to Abigail’s by our bereavement midwife. The counselling Abigail’s provided helped me try to process what had happed and really helped me during the early days after we lost Max. I was very thankful that we were able to get an appointment with Naomi so quickly, because I think she really helped me while the hormones were hitting, and helped me piece together what was happening as there was just so much to process. She was actually the main instigator in Ryan and I getting married in December, she really encouraged us to do something for us and made it feel possible and I will always be thankful to her for that.

we have persuaded friends and family from across the country to come join us. We are fortunate to have a very supportive network who are willing to drive for miles, to help celebrate Max and raise money in his memory.

Since 2010, Abigail's Footsteps have worked to improve the way bereaved parents are cared for by hospitals and to better educate midwives on how to care for grieving parents.

Abigail's Footsteps also help by creating sympathetic space for parents in hospitals, to providing much needed equipment for parents to spend longer with their babies whilst also offering specialist baby loss counselling sessions.

Please help us raise vital funds so we can continue to support bereaved families.

Thank you.
