SJDK Organ Project
Campaign by St John the Divine Kennington (RCN HMRC Registered)
Help our inner-city church raise the funds needed to move and install the pipe organ gifted to us by St. John's College, Cambridge, to the benefit of our worshipping community and the dozens of children from local neighbourhoods who sing in our choir

Story

Please join us for an evening of music, food and good company to raise money for St John the Divine Kennington (SJDK) organ replacement project

Thea has been singing with SJDK Choir for over 10 years. Her musicianship and singing has developed hugely through the patient teaching from the directors of music and support from other experienced singers. The choir is a beacon for bringing young musicians of diverse backgrounds into the precious English choral tradition. Thea's firm off message beliefs have never been an issue. She has always been welcome and we have heard some outstanding music over the years.

The original organ was destroyed in WWII. There has been a make do since then. But it's on its last legs. An opportunity came up to relocate and adapt an exceptional instrument from St John's College Cambridge, with whom SJDK has a musical partnership. (Thea has attended choir camps there). It requires an inner city church to raise £1.1m. This has been a challenge which the church community has supported with gusto.

To play our part, Eleanor will provide pre concert dinner and after concert dessert and digestif at Purser-Bolton HQ, 10 min walk away from the church. In between we will listen to the choral scholars, male and female undergraduate and graduate students sing alongside the young choristers in the College Chapel. They will perform a selection of close harmony and choral favourites alongside SJDK's adult and children's choirs.

Tickets for the concert are available at this link for £10. For those that feel able to support the project further, please donate on this page and gift aid it. If you are not able to join us, please consider supporting the organ project and thus Thea in her continuing choral development. Thank you xx
