Story

This September, ten Brindishe Manor parents will be taking on The Big Half to raise funds for our school.

I wanted to take on this challenge for a few reasons. Living with type 1 diabetes means every training run takes a little more planning, and, if I’m honest, I’ve never thought of myself as a runner. Completing a half marathon is something that’s well outside my comfort zone, but that’s exactly why I wanted to do it. It’s a personal challenge to see what I’m capable of, while raising money for a cause that’s close to my heart.

One of the things I love most about Brindishe Manor is the incredible community around it. We’re so fortunate to live in a place with such supportive parents, wonderful families and a school that brings people together. It’s a fantastic place to raise children, and I’m proud to be part of a community that is always willing to get behind each other and support initiatives that make a real difference.

The Big Half is London’s inclusive community half marathon, taking place on Sunday, 6 September 2026. The 13.1-mile closed-road route starts near Tower Bridge, winds through the host boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich, and finishes beside the iconic Cutty Sark.

If you’d like to come along and cheer us on, event information can be found here: https://www.londonmarathonevents.co.uk/big-half/big-half-spectator-guide.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help us improve the school’s outdoor play areas, creating even better spaces for our children to learn, play and make memories. Thank you so much for your support—it really does mean a great deal.
