Great Manchester 10K · 18 May 2025 ·

The PMDD Project is dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and funding research on Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of individuals affected by this condition.

Story

Hello, I am putting my big brave girly face on here & sharing my story to raise awareness & hopefully fundraise for the PMDD Project 💜

PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) affects 1 in 20 women, yet it remains massively misunderstood. While it’s often described as an extreme version of PMS, that description doesn’t even begin to do it justice. PMDD is a serious medical condition that can deeply impact a person’s emotional, physical, and mental well-being.

824,000 people in the UK have PMDD.

593,000 people will experience suicidal ideation.

275,000 people will attempt suicide.

Too many people suffering from PMDD are dismissed, misdiagnosed, or told their symptoms are “just hormonal.” The reality is, PMDD can be debilitating, with symptoms that interfere with daily life, work, and relationships.

I was diagnosed a few months ago with PMDD, after spending the best part of a year wondering what was "wrong" with me, and trying to work out why I completely changed before my period. I only have two weeks at most, every month, where I am my usual self.

I will be running the 10k Great Manchester Run on the 18th May, to fundraise money for the PMDD project.

The PMDD project strives to raise awareness, provide support, and fund research into PMDD. They are absolutely amazing & have supported me so far in my PMDD journey.

I would be so grateful if you could spare anything you have to donate to an amazing charity, that is so close to my heart 💜
