Story

🚴‍♀️ Cycling from London to Brighton for Celia Hammond Animal Trust! 🐾

Hi everyone! It’s no secret that I REALLY love cats. So much so that I'm taking on the challenge of cycling 90km from London to Brighton up almost 1 kilometre of elevation (ie Mount Snowden) to raise money for the Celia Hammond Animal Trust. CHAT are an amazing charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming cats in need (but also sometimes dogs, birds, and even rats). They also support those on low income with essential vet care and neutering/spaying for cats who otherwise would go untreated.

A combination of lockdown pets followed by cost of living crisis has meant shelters are completely overwhelmed. Unneutered animals are causing surges in unhomed cat populations, and the increasing frequency of sick and injured animals being dumped is truly shocking. CHAT takes these animals in, performs life-saving surgeries (as well as neutering), and rehabilitates & socialises each one over a period of weeks or months until they are ready to thrive in a new home.

Our own cats, Freddie and Forest, were dumped on an industrial site in East London with their two siblings and only alive today thanks to CHAT. Others are found dumped in boxes, chained to railings, or simply thrown into CHAT’s reception in a cat carrier.

I’ve set my fundraising target at **£672** - two pounds for every single cat rehomed this year so far by their hardworking team at the Canning Town branch. That’s 336 cats who now have safe, loving homes thanks to their tireless efforts.

It costs £45 to neuter a female cat and £35 to neuter a male (pink tax 🙄). Food, litter and cleaning supplier for a cat is £6 per day. Every donation, big or small, will help them continue this vital work - rescuing strays, providing medical care, and finding forever homes for animals who need a second chance.

Even if you can’t give now, please do the most impactful thing of all and #AdoptDontShop

Thank you so much for your support! 🐱❤️
