Story
In January 2025, I (Eleanor) experienced Postpartum Psychosis after the birth of my first son (and Chantelle's nephew). It was an incredibly hard time for myself and my husband, as well as those around us. Accessing support was difficult as, like many people, we had no idea what Postpartum Psychosis was and therefore didn't recognise my symptoms. It was unbelievably scary. Once the amazing perinatal mental health team became involved, we were directed towards APP, and what a lifeline they have been. Their understanding has been incredible. I have met my amazing peer supporter who listens, and understands what we have and are still going through, I am eternally grateful for her and her support.
Whilst I am definitely on a road to recovery, I'm not there yet, but I'm hoping this race will be a part of that. And then my FABULOUS sister decided to run alongside me, also for APP. We would really appreciate your support in raising money for this charity that has truly helped to pull me and my family out of the darkest time in our life. Thank you! Eleanor and Chantelle xx
Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) is a UK charity. We’re here to make sure mums, parents and families are supported through postpartum psychosis – a severe, but treatable, form of mental illness that occurs after having a baby and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year.
We offer information and peer support, facilitate ground breaking research, raise awareness and campaign for improved services.
Our life changing peer support network helps women and families affected by postpartum psychosis feel understood, supported and less isolated.
