Imagine hearing the worst possible news as a parent - that your child is seriously ill and not expected to live to be an adult.

That is exactly what my family were told when my sister Chloe was born. Chloe was born with multiple complex disabilities including Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epilepsy and Mitochondrial Disease.

Chloe spent years in and out of hospital, and each time we didn’t know if she would survive. During this time our family was supported by Claire House. I have many fond memories of Claire House, whilst Chloe was in the sensory rooms or being cared for, I would create paper dragons for Lunar New Year, or decorate paper chains at Christmas. Claire house gave our family a sense of normality through some of our hardest times.

Chloe is now 25 years old and thriving! But I will always be grateful for Claire House for creating so many lovely memories for myself and my family.
