Hello, my name is Eli Wakia and I am raising money for ShelterBox and their work in Sudan.

I feel like this kind of news gets overshadowed in the UK by news that more affects us.

Sudan is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. The country has been plagued by conflict. There is an ongoing civil war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. Despite the challenges people face, the Sudanese people are known for their resilience and strong sense of community. Many people are displaced, living out in the open or in makeshift shelters. ShelterBox’s teams are delivering aid into Sudan right now. Providing emergency shelter and essential household items. This is only possible because of donations from people like you.

As an African, I feel as if it’s important we don’t forget about these “smaller” news stories just because they don’t personally affect us in Europe.

By raising funds for the Rotary Club my grandfather is part of means the donation to ShelterBox will be doubled through Rotary International. So every pound you give will become two pounds for ShelterBox.
