Story
On 10th September 2024 we welcomed our baby boy, Jacob Daniel Jones. Jacob was born 7 weeks early. After a complicated pregnancy and finding out he had an issue with his kidneys, we knew we were in for a little fight when he came out. We didn’t expect Jacob to be as poorly as he was.
For 4 weeks Jacob showed us how much of a fighter he was, until it was too much for him and we had to say goodbye. On Wednesday 9th October 2024 our world fell apart. We were told there was nothing more that could be done to help Jacob. Our hearts will forever be broken and life will never be the same.
Jacob spent his first few days inside Liverpool Women’s Hospital where he received incredible care in the Neonatal Unit. At 5 days old Jacob was transferred to Alder Hey where he continued to receive incredible care.
After Jacob passed we spent a lot of time in the Snowdrop Suite, which is a bereavement facility for parents who have lost a child. Words will never be enough to express how grateful we are for this facility and the staff that do this job day in, day out. The suite gave us the chance to make the most special family memories that we would not have had the opportunity to do. The staff helped us get through the most difficult time of our lives, and still continue to support us.
I will be running the Manchester marathon in April to raise money for Alder Hey in Jacob’s memory. I will also be joined by some friends: Ben Hawkins, Jack Tozer, Jasper Ryan, and Olly Moore.
Any donations would be massively appreciated.
