Story
I want to fundraise for Rowans Hospice to say thank you for helping me and my Mummy when my Daddy died. I want to raise money so they can help other families that are struggling like me and my Mummy did. They are amazing and brilliant.
To help, I am going to cycle around Langstone Harbour in memory of Daddy who loved cycling. He brought me my first pedal bike and taught me how to ride it.
A note from Mummy: Elisa’s Daddy, Pip died in November 2021 from oesophageal cancer just after Elisa turned 5 years old. He was only diagnosed in February that year. It has been a really tough time for both of us since this happened but the support from Rowans hospice has been amazing, especially the Meerkats and the psychology department. I don’t know how we would have managed without it.
Pip always loved cycling, he taught me and Elisa to ride and we enjoyed many rides together. When he was ill and since he passed away, cycling has really helped my mental health and recovery. I am really grateful for Pip teaching me so it is really fitting Elisa has chosen to do a bike ride in memory of him.
I am really proud of Elisa for choosing to do this and say thank you in this way. We are hoping to do the ride during the summer holiday, date TBC.
Rowans Hospice provide palliative care to the highest quality for those living with a life-limiting illness in South East Hampshire. Our hospice carers help improve quality of life for the patient by easing physical symptoms and offering psychological, spiritual and social support to both patients and their loved ones. Hospice care is available round the clock. We receive a very small level of statutory support from the Government, however, almost all of the money needed to provide our services has to be raised through donations and fundraising
