Story
Nearly two years ago, my dad noticed loss of sensation in the left side of his body, and felt like his brain was no longer able to communicate with his legs. A couple scans, MRIs and neurology appointments down the line, he was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS (multiple sclerosis).
MS is a disease that develops when the immune system attacks the central nervous system and causes nerve damage. There’s currently no cure. In relapsing MS, people have attacks or 'relapses'. New symptoms will suddenly appear, or old ones will come back or get worse. For some people it can be managed with some medication, but there’s currently no cure or way to reverse damage done to the brain and spinal cord.
MS Society has been such a great help to my family, and my dad. He’s been able to join initiatives and attend events for MS patients, connecting and socialising with people who know how he feels. For the rest of us, the MS Society’s information and phone line has provided great comfort in times of distress.
Now, I’ve been roped into doing a challenge… eeeek! This autumn I’m going to be taking on Royal Parks Half Marathon with my Dad to raise funds for MS Society, who are truly a lifeline for so many MS patients.
Thank you so much for your support🩷 it means the world to me n my Dad
Go team!!
