Elisabeth's fundraiser for Kelly's Cause Foundation

3 Peaks in 24 hours · 29 July 2023
On the 29th July I will be taking on the 24-hour National Three Peaks Challenge and raising funds for Kelly's Cause.
Kelly's Cause was set up in honour of Kelly, an exceptionally talented chef, who took her own life at the age of 23. Kelly's Cause is on a mission to create a mentally healthy hospitality industry by providing hospitality-specific Mental Health First Aid training and mental health services to all sections of the hospitality industry.
At times, I have had my own mental health struggles and also have close family, friends and colleagues with their own mental health challenges. By becoming a Mental Health First Aider through Kelly’s Cause, I hope to provide support to my colleagues with their struggles.
I have found being physically active and out in nature helps me cope with mentally challenging times and just puts me in a different ‘head space’. I am therefore thrilled to be part of the 24-hour National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the UK’s three highest peaks, Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Mt Snowdon in Wales, walking a total of 23 miles and an ascent of 3064 m, all within a 24-hour time frame.
Combining Kelly’s Cause and the Three Peaks Challenge gives me the opportunity to raise awareness about mental health and to say, “it’s okay, not to be okay”. I’d like to share the vision that there should not be any stigma surrounding mental health and that it is safe to openly discuss this issue and support those with mental health concerns.
Please “walk with me” and help raise money for Kelly’s Cause which will go directly to the subsidisation of Mental Health First Aid training for folks in the hospitality industry.
