Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our son, Alexander, was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma at just four years old. By the time it was discovered, the cancer had already spread throughout his body — his organs, blood, and bones. It was everywhere.
Neuroblastoma is fast-growing, and everything moved quickly. One day we had a diagnosis, the next he was in treatment. The team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary were exceptional — truly extraordinary in both their care and compassion. What followed was relentless: multiple rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, intensive chemotherapy, stem cell therapy, immunotherapy, and countless procedures — treatments that are still evolving today thanks to ongoing research. It was brutal, but he endured it all. We were told the reality at the time — survival was essentially a 50:50 chance. As a parent, that fear never leaves you.
Today, we are ten years on from diagnosis and eight years into remission. We know how fortunate we are.
On Sunday 28th June, we will be taking on the Ullswater Way — and we would love you to join us.
We are doing this walk in support of Neuroblastoma UK — a charity dedicated to funding vital research into neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Their work focuses on developing more effective, kinder treatments, improving survival rates, and supporting families facing this diagnosis.
This walk is our way of giving back — to raise awareness, fund research, and help give other families a better chance. If you can, we would love you to join us. Walk with us and be part of something that truly matters.
If we can be part of improving even one outcome, it is worth everything.
