Help Elisia Find Her Voice with Eye Gaze Technology !
Elisia is our beautiful, determined 10-year-old daughter. She has a rare chromosome disorder caused by a small deletion in the MEF2C gene — so rare that only 29 other children in the UK share it. Although the deletion is tiny, it has a huge impact on her life.
Every milestone is a challenge. Her brain doesn’t always send the right messages to her body. She is non-verbal and cannot yet walk unaided, but with her walker or a helping hand, she can take a few steps. We celebrate every small victory she achieves along the way.
Currently, she communicates using a limited set of just 30 words, each represented by a picture card. To express herself, she selects words by using her hands or her eyes, but this small vocabulary confines her world in ways many of us might struggle to imagine. Among those 30 words, she has three that serve as her voice: "Hello," "Stop," and "More." Picture navigating your day with only these words at your disposal.
At school, Elisia has access to eye gaze technology — a system that tracks her eyes to let her select words, sentences, songs, and more. But she only gets 30 minutes every two weeks, because the device is shared with other pupils. We’ve seen the difference it makes when she’s able to use it at home — her face lights up as she chooses her favourite songs or books. For the first time, she could fully express her thoughts and feelings.
Eye gaze technology could transform her life. It could let her tell us where she’s in pain, share her ideas, and expand her world in ways most of us take for granted. Sadly, the cost of the device is far beyond our means.
That’s why we’re fundraising — with the support of the incredible Knights Foundation, who have already given Elisia unforgettable experiences, family breaks, and ongoing support. Together, we are determined to make 2026 the year Elisia truly finds her voice.
How you can help:
Every donation, no matter the size, will bring us closer to giving Elisia this life-changing technology.
Thank you for being part of her journey. With your help, we can open up a whole new world for her xxxxxx
NOTE : The equipment actually costs almost £11,000. We hope to also save ourselves in the coming months and obtain some charity grants. Hence this fundraiser target being much less
