Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2011, I did my first triathlon. It was Cardiff Try-a-Tri, a 400m swim, 10k bike and a 5k run. I did it for the sole reason that if Anna ever asked “have you done a triathlon like Daddy?”, I could say yes.
I hated most of it! I went back the following year and did it again to see if I’d have a different experience, I didn’t and I retired graciously as a triathlete after two events.
Fast forward 10 years, Anna competes in the Iron Kids race at Luxembourg 70.3, she then buys a T-shirt which simply says “Future Iron Man “ those of you who knew Anna will know that the point where she made that commitment to make by the T-shirt, she made a commitment to do the race.
On May 9th I will come out of retirement as a triathlete and will complete the IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca course which is a 1900m swim, 56mile bike and a 13mile run. I’m doing this for many reasons but one of them is that Pete and I promised that we would continue to show Anna the world through our eyes so she could continue enjoy it.
She never got the chance to fulfill her own dream, but on that day I will complete it for her.
We continue to raise funds for Anna‘s Song, a charity which gives talented teenage singers the opportunity to complete workshops and experiences in order to achieve the singing dreams and I’ll be raising money for that charity on the day.
As I run down that Ironman carpet in the finishing shoot, I will join Pete, Jake and Anna in a very special club 💛
