Story
On 4th October, I’ll be taking on the Manchester Half Marathon to raise money for Brain Tumour Research, in memory of my amazing Mum.
October will mark 10 years since we lost Mum to a glioblastoma. She fought for nearly four years, and throughout that time she was never once negative or complained. She did everything she possibly could to keep fighting and, most importantly, to keep living.
I’m not a runner. In fact, I’m not really someone who does any type of exercise! So, to say the training has been a shock at times would be an understatement. There have definitely been moments when I’ve wondered what on earth I’ve signed myself up for!
But whenever I need to dig deep and push through, I think about Mum and everything she went through. If she could keep going through the toughest of days, then I can certainly keep going.
Mum would probably laugh if she knew I was running a half marathon, but I know that deep down she would be incredibly proud.
I wish more than anything that she could be here to see me cross that finish line.
I’m taking on this challenge to honour her, to keep her memory alive, and to raise money for a cause that I hope can make a difference to other families facing the devastating reality of brain tumours.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, would mean so much to me and would be hugely appreciated. Hopefully, together, we can help Brain Tumour Research fund vital research and give other people like my Mum more hope for the future.
Thank you for any support you’re able to give.
For Mum. Always & forever 🤍💫🕊️
