Story

My story

My father-in-law, lovingly known as Trunce, battled cancer for almost a year, with my mother-in-law by his side. They faced the toughest of days together until he was admitted to Severn Hospice, where he gained his wings. Nothing was too much trouble for the amazing nurses and staff who cared for him and supported us during that difficult time. We will forever be grateful for their compassion and dedication.

Since that time, myself and my soon to be husband Jase (Trunce's youngest son) have both supported Severn Hospice and had the privilege of running the marathon on behalf of the hospice.

I never thought I'd get the opportunity again so to be running for them for the second time, will be an absolute honor

My challenge

After completing my first marathon; I vowed never to do it again! I took up running just before Covid and completed the Couch to 5k program. I then entered the Lake Vyrnwy half marathon with plans to fundraise for Severn Hospice, but then Covid struck, halting all group runs. As life began to return to normal, I decided to challenge myself further by training for a marathon. Since losing Trunce and my Dad, I have completed three marathons, several half marathons, and 10k races. They are my motivation behind this journey. Winter training is never easy, but I'm determined to cross that finish line and make Severn Hospice and my family proud

About the hospice

Severn Hospice provides specialist care and emotional support for families in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales living with an incurable illness. All care is provided free of charge but comes at a cost; they must raise £2 for every £3 spent. Please help our runners raise as much as possible as we take on our 26.2-mile challenge on April 26th, 2026.
