Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I've chosen to support The Isobel Sheppard Legacy Fund by raising funds for Sarcoma UK, that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer.
Izzy was a vibrant, joyful and bold young girl who, at just 12 years old, began to struggle with walking. After two weeks in hospital, she received the devastating news that she had synovial sarcoma in her groin, a rare cancer that affects only about one in a million people.
Despite the diagnosis, Izzy’s spirit shone through. During the pandemic, she endured chemotherapy and the radical amputation of her entire right leg, yet continued to face life with unmatched bravery and joy . She became a passionate advocate—speaking with the BBC and local press, and joining a Sarcoma UK fundraising initiative to share her experience and raise awareness.
Just as it seemed Izzy was finding a new normal and gearing up to sit her GCSEs, tragedy struck again. On 15 October 2022, she suffered a catastrophic brain bleed, and the cancer had metastasized—spreading to her brain, lungs, kidney, and adrenal gland . Izzy fought a short but impossible battle, and passed away on 14 December 2022.
The memories of Izzy remain vivid: her kindness, her humor, her spirit, and the sassiness that lit up every room she entered. She was truly one of the strongest, warmest souls I’ve ever known—and I know she’s deeply missed by family and friends every day.
Her legacy lives on through The Isobel Sheppard Legacy Fund, established to raise awareness and fund research for synovial sarcoma—so that in the future, fewer families will have to endure what Izzy did.
Would you consider sponsoring me in support of Izzy's legacy?
Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, we can help change this.
Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep the specialist Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community.
