As many of you know, earlier this year two shootings occurred outside of the Chestnut Street YMCA at the nearby bus stop. I witnessed firsthand the courage and compassion of the YMCA staff as they put their own lives on the line to protect the children in their care. Their bravery reaffirmed what I already knew: the staff at the Chestnut Street YMCA deeply love the children they serve. They embody the YMCA's mission "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all."
