Lizzy’s fundraiser for AT Society

Lizzy Hughes is raising money for AT Society
In memory of Rachel Ferguson

Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge 2026 · 13 June 2026 to 14 June 2026 ·

The AT Society is a small, national charity that supports children, young adults and their families whose lives have been shattered by a diagnosis of ataxia telangiectasia (AT), a rare, degenerative, life-limiting condition for which there is no cure. We fund vital research and essential support.

Story

I am jogging, walking and running as much as I can, up to 100km in one go to raise funds for the AT Society, a charity very close to my heart.

I am doing this challenge for AT in memory of my lovely friend Rachel Ferguson who sadly passed away in November 2023.

What is AT?

Ataxia-Telangiectasia (“AT”) is a complex genetic disease which affects many parts of the body and causes severe disability. The symptoms include lack of balance, slurred speech and more than normal infections.

Why is raising money for the AT society so important?

The AT Society is a small national charity unique to the UK in the services it offers families. The Society’s objective has been to alleviate the distress and suffering caused by AT.

The AT Society provides support services for families, funds research and specialist AT clinics, and helps raise awareness.
