Red Shoe Walk 2025 · 3 August 2025 ·

Small steps, taken together, can make a big difference. Get ready for the Red Shoe Walk! A fun, family-friendly walk around the outskirts of Meadowhall - all to raise funds for vital dementia care projects in Sheffield.

Story

I’m taking part in the Red Shoe Walk 2025 to help raise vital funds for dementia care projects in Sheffield through Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

The Red Shoe Walk is a 3km walk along the canal path on the outskirts of Meadowhall Shopping Centre. Funds raised will help improve hospital spaces and activities, provide specialist dementia training for NHS staff, volunteers and family carers, and help people with dementia to live independently.

Why red shoes? The colour red can increase brain wave activity in people with dementia. It easily catches their attention. It’s a colour that can be seen clearly, even through to the late stages of dementia.
