In June 2025, I have challenged myself to take on the South Coast Mighty Hike to help raise money for people living with cancer. In 2018, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer while I was abroad. After successful surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she was given the all clear, unlike her cousin that unfortunately did not make it through.

My family has a history of different types of cancer and is always something I have been aware of, and yet I thought it would be a long way off before I’m dealing with my friends, my age group having this awful disease. Unfortunately, just a few months after giving birth to my now godson, my best friend of 15 years has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently going through rigorous chemotherapy which will be followed by surgery and potentially more chemo. She’s only 30yrs old, has her own business which will take a back seat and still has a 9month old baby to try and look after while trying to get better.

There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.
