Story

Hey!!

For those of you that don't know us, we’re sisters, Ella and Robyn. This October we will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London with Team Mind. Calling this a challenge is a major understatement as running is certainly not our forte, however, we’re grateful we can experience this journey together while raising money for a brilliant charity.

Below is just a short insight into why this means so much to each of us.

‘I’ve struggled with my mental health for as long as I can remember, years of hospital trips, waiting lists and explaining myself to new people on repeat. Throughout this time I’ve found it extremely difficult to access the support I need due to a lack of awareness, overwhelmed resources and so so much more. I remember being about 12 years old, scrolling through the Mind website, reading information that helped me understand what I was experiencing and made me feel a tiny bit less alone. Providing this kind of information is just the tip of the iceberg for Mind. They support people through talking therapies, legal casework, and on a larger scale, campaigning for change in Parliament.

I don’t want others to have the same experiences I did when trying to get help, so I genuinely could not think of a better charity to be taking on this challenge for.’

‘Growing up seeing my big sister struggle with her mental health left me with a lot of questions I didn’t know how to ask. It was confusing and worrying at times, and often left me feeling helpless because I didn’t know how to support someone I love so much.

That’s why Mind is so important. They don’t just support people experiencing mental health challenges, they also support the families and loved ones beside them, giving them the understanding, guidance and reassurance they need during difficult times.

I’m so grateful that Mind could be there for Ella when I was too young to fully understand what she was going through… and that’s why I’m choosing to run 13 miles instead of making a sensible donation and staying in bed.’

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. If you can, we’d be incredibly appreciative for a donation. If not, sharing our page with others would help us just as much. Every donation and every share brings us one step closer to helping Mind support more people and families like ours.

See you at the finish line!!🏃🏼‍♀️
