My challenge
Beat are on a mission to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders and on Monday 2nd June, World Eating Disorder Day, I’ll be doing my bit to support this amazing charity and raise awareness of the support it can offer :)
I’ll be taking my walking pad into the office and walking for 7hrs straight, non-stop from 9am to 4pm, which should be around 45km and well over 50,000 steps. Pray for my feet! :) I’ll have information leaflets with me to share with anybody who’d like to learn more about eating disorders or may know somebody that could benefit from support.

The charity
Around 1.25 million people in the UK suffer with an eating disorder, many in secret. They can affect absolutely anyone, including the friends and family of those who are struggling. Eating disorders are dangerous, all-consuming and severely affect quality of life but are often misunderstood, making it hard for people to ask for help when they need it.
As an example of the amazing work this Beat does, in 2023-2024…
•They answered over 8,000 phone calls, 6,000 emails and 24,000 webchats via their Helpline services.
•They delivered 854 training sessions to healthcare, school and university professionals.
•Their information resources were downloaded 72,000 from their website.
•They helped 249 people take the first step to beating Binge Eating Disorder with their guided self-help programme.
•91,000 people used their online directory of eating disorder services to find expertise and support near them.
•Their Schools Professionals Online Training (SPOT) e-learning platform has now supported 5,814 professionals in primary and secondary schools and sixth-form colleges.
