Have you ever felt a bit stuck in life? In a job you'd like to change? In your marriage? On a project you're working on? You have a creative block you can't shift? Or, maybe even you've felt stuck in a country you want to leave but you can't?

I'm pretty sure the majority of people reading this have felt stuck in at least one of these ways at some point in life. I certainly have.

To help me cope with that 'stuck' feeling, I go for a run. For as long as I want. Sometimes I reflect on the problem and think of a solution. Sometimes I just need the physical exertion to clear my head and gain a different perspective. It's part of my routine. I've been doing it for the last 7 years, gradually increasing the distances as I gained more stamina.

Every run has made me stronger both physically and mentally, and more able to cope with life's challenges. Now I run also because I enjoy how it makes me feel alive, capable, and resilient, and because I can. And I feel lucky every time I put my running shoes on and leave the house.

But I am aware not everyone is this lucky. And this is the reason I decided to become an ambassador for this charity.

When I was researching a women's rights charity to become involved with long term, a key aspect was the use of sport, namely running, to help women break the mould determined for them in society. Free to Run's mission achieves exactly this - through sports programmes, leadership initiatives and community outreach.

Now my goal through running is both to raise awareness for the women and girls that Free to Run supports, and to help raise funds for the programmes Free to Run provides.

Please make a donation (no amount is too small!) to help these girls experience the freedom and empowerment taken for granted by us, but yet unknown to them.
