 I began my dental nursing journey 5 years ago with no idea about the world of dentistry and where it would lead me. 5 years in and I feel that I’m ready to use the knowledge and skills I have learnt to good use and do some volunteering. 

Me and my friend/colleague Holly will be doing 2 weeks volunteering in Malawi with a dental charity called Dentaid, in July 2025. We will be visiting prisons, orphanages, schools and refugee camps as apart of our journey.

Dentaid is an amazing charity that allows access to dental treatment in the most deprived communities in the UK and abroad. As a volunteer I’ll be working with local dental partners to run outreach clinics in schools, orphanages, prisons, slum areas and community buildings. We’ll be providing safe, free dental treatment for some of the poorest and most remote communities in the world. Each day our team will help hundreds of people out of dental pain. We’ll also be running oral health and toothbrushing programmes and working to promote dental health. Dentaid’s work continues all year round, providing equipment, sharing expertise and supporting projects that help people access life changing dental care.Thanks to your support you will be part of an amazing team, improving access to safe dental care and making a difference with dentistry.

The money fundraised through my page will pay for the trip, including my flights over there, accommodation, alongside dental equipment and consumables that we will use. It will also support dentaid in their ongoing amazing work.
