Story
Depression during perimenopause and menopause is life-threatening. When it isn't picked up quickly. When it's treated incorrectly. When it's misdiagnosed. Women die.
In six weeks, I'll be running the Paris Marathon with my best friend Em to support her in raising awareness of perimenopausal and menopausal depression, with the funds going to The Menopause Charity and the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), so that fewer families go through what Em's has.
The UK healthcare system still treats mental and physical health as two entirely separate things. But for women, hormonal changes (after childbirth, through menopause) are intrinsically linked to mental health. And in 2026, women deserve a healthcare system that recognises that.
Em's family are truly some of the kindest, bravest people I know. The fact that they're sharing something so personal in the hope it helps someone else says it all. Please read their story and give the funding page a little boost if you can!
