Our Sussex disability charity – The Bevern Trust – ensures that people with profound disabilities can live truly active and fulfilling lives, in a home where they can feel safe, are loved and are offered compassionate care. The Bevern Trust — started with a care home founded by parents, from Sussex, in 1999. This movement was in response to concerns at the lack of facilities for young people with complex needs. It aimed to provide a home for young people for as long as they choose to live there. The Trust was formed by two parents groups who worked together and combined their resources. The parent groups continue their work in their locality, within Sussex, and Trustees are appointed with a particular focus and responsibility for their local project. With a Christian ethos we were founded by and uphold Christian values that demonstrate that everyone has the right to live their life in abundance. Now we provide 24 hour care for 11 people who live with us full time.

Story

Hello,

As many of you know, my big brother Ciaron lives nearby in a residential care home. Here they have specialist care and understanding to help him to live as independently as he is able with choice and control … he loves to be the boss man ! At his core, he loves people - showing visitors around, encouraging those who lack confidence, sharing his joy of music and faith… At times though, his head injury makes understanding circumstances, emotions and plans tricky for him to navigate, which can cause him challenging behaviours. A calm separate activity area is what really benefits him at these times, until he is ready to reconnect with his friends and carers. Homely, relaxing spaces really help regulate his nervous system. Please help me to help all those at Bevern View.

Help me to create a Space to Thrive for our residents

For over 25 years our residential home, Bevern View has been providing a loving and supportive environment for residents with profound physical and learning disabilities.

As our residents get older, and their needs become more complex we have recognised that we urgently need to extend the home in order to create a space for our residents to live life to the full.

We’re now closer than ever to reaching our final goal of £668,000. With just over 50% left to raise every contribution brings us one step closer to creating a transformative space where our Bevern View community can truly thrive.

With your help, the exciting Space to Thrive appeal project will enable us to create:

A dedicated activity room to stimulate and engage our residents

A refurbished lounge for comfort and connection

A staff break room and new office to support our incredible caregivers.
