At the end of March 2025, our lives changed overnight.

My mum, Fiona, was diagnosed with breast cancer with lymphatic spread. With no history of breast cancer in our family, it was a diagnosis none of us ever expected. Suddenly, life revolved around hospital appointments, surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. We found ourselves living in three-week cycles, taking each appointment and each milestone as it came.

In the middle of all of this, just one week before my 24-hour Browathon fundraiser in October 2025, we experienced another heartbreaking loss, biggest loss ever. My beautiful Nain, Fiona's mum, sadly passed away after a long battle with lung cancer and COPD.

She absolutely loved fundraising and was one of our biggest supporters. There was never any question about whether we would continue with the Browathon—we knew she would have wanted us to carry on, and we did. Thanks to the incredible support of so many people, we were able to raise £2,600 in just 24 hours for the Alaw Ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd.

This year, we wanted to go even bigger.

Well... higher.

If you know my mum, you'll know her biggest fear is heights. So naturally, I suggested we jump out of a plane!

What makes it even more special is that I remember finding Mum's bucket list years ago, and one of the things she wanted to do before turning 40 was a skydive. She never quite found the courage to tick it off... until now. I have no doubt my Nain would think we've completely lost the plot, but she'd also be the first person cheering us on.

So, on 3rd October 2026, we'll be taking the leap together to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.

This incredible charity supports people through every stage of breast cancer, funds life-changing research, and provides vital care and support for those navigating diagnosis, treatment and life beyond breast cancer.
