Ellaheh's fundraiser for Bridge2aid

Ellaheh Aslani is raising money for Bridge2aid

Team: Peak to Plains Safari Cycle

In memory of Reza
There is a desperate need to tackle oral disease, infection and chronic pain throughout the developing world - to enable people to work, attend school and care for families. We teach skills that mean local people are able to function free from pain, and avoid preventable infections and diseases.

Story

Hi, I’m Dr. Ella Aslani, Principal Dentist at Copper Beech Clinic in Christchurch, Dorset.

On 31st January 2026, I will be flying to Tanzania to join a group of intrepid cyclists for an incredible challenge — to cycle 340 km from the base of the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro to the awe-inspiring Ngorongoro Crater over five demanding days.

I’m not a professional cyclist, and the idea of spending 7–8 hours a day in the saddle is daunting. But I’ve taken on this once-in-a-lifetime challenge for both personal and professional reasons.

Having grown up in a developing country, I know first-hand that healthcare — especially dental care — is often a privilege, not a right, and only available to those who can afford it. I vividly remember taking my younger brother, who had an open arm fracture, from hospital to hospital — each one refusing to treat him because we couldn’t pay for the operation.

While Tanzania is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and safaris, the reality is starkly different for many of its people. With a population of over 70 million and only around 600 dentists, access to even basic dental care is severely limited.

That’s why I’m raising funds for Bridge2Aid, a charity that works tirelessly in Tanzania to provide essential dental care and train local dental therapists who bring relief to communities in pain. After the cycle challenge, I’ll stay an extra week to join their outreach programme, delivering dental care and helping train eight dental therapists who will go on to transform lives across the country.

This journey also holds a deeply personal meaning for me. I’m dedicating it to the memory of my beloved father, Reza — a free-spirited, adventurous sportsman and keen mountaineer whose dream was to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Sadly, we lost him 21 years ago to head and neck cancer, a cause that remains close to my heart. Before he passed, I promised that one day I would take his ashes to Kilimanjaro. Now, as I embark on this journey, he will travel with me — giving me the strength and inspiration to complete this challenge in his memory.

I would be deeply grateful for your support in helping me reach my fundraising goal of £5,000 or more. Every penny raised will go directly to Bridge2Aid, helping to relieve pain, restore dignity, and bring smiles to those most in need.

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.

With heartfelt thanks,

Dr. Ella Aslani
