Let's Talk About Loss runs peer-led meet ups across the UK for anyone aged 18 to 35 who has experienced bereavement. They are relaxed, safe, accessible spaces where young grievers can meet others who understand. Together, we're talking through the taboo.

Story

Hi everyone.

Just over a year ago my world was completely turned upside down.

A lot of you knew my beautiful little sister Ella. Only 26. A bright spark. A quietly confident, shining, creative, totally unique, hilariously funny, endlessly kind, thoughtful perfectionist.

On Sunday 26th January 2025, Ella went to an experience in a flotation pod that she had booked with a friend. At the end of the session she was unresponsive and paramedics were unable to resuscitate her. We still don't yet know what exactly happened in the pod, but our girl has gone.

There are no words to describe how we miss her, the hole in our lives will never be filled. It's still so hard to accept she isn't ever coming back. [...read more...]

It has been a year of living with the reality that life will and does go on - I am painfully aware of this each day and milestone that passes. Life won't ever be the same.

The charity Let's Talk About Loss offer support groups and socials across the country to support people aged 18-35 who have lost loved ones. Their support has been invaluable to me this past year - and got me out of the house when I needed to connect with someone who could even slightly understand. I was craving connection with people who got it and this charity brought us together. The socials gave me back a way to go out and eased me back into life and the world. I'll be forever grateful and any money raised for them will go to such good use.

Also, anyone who knows me will know I do NOT run. I ran once before and said never again - but here we are. This is a charity and a cause so close to my heart that nothing will stop me.

Ella and I were connected, attached, shared a constantly open thoughtline between our minds. Even when my sister and I were apart, and she or I was away from the other, we could still feel each other. We knew when something was good or bad, we felt the others feelings. Now I can't feel that. I reach out and there is no hand to grab. I breathe but I can't quite get the full breath. I dial but there's no answer.

When I saw her for the last time, and said my goodbyes, I knew that it was not how I wanted to remember her. She will always be my beautiful sister, my other half, part of me. A vibrant, creative, life loving young woman with big twinkling brown eyes and the world at her feet.

Love you so much Ella xxx
