Story
As I approach my 30th birthday, I thought what better way to celebrate than throwing myself out of a plane! On 22nd August 2026, I will be taking on a 15,000-foot tandem skydive while raising money for a cause that means so much to me and my family.
This skydive is dedicated to the memory of my brother-in-law, Connor Birch, who sadly passed away on 18 June 2016 due to Dilated Cardiomyopathy caused by a faulty Titin gene. Connor's loss had a devastating impact on our family, and we have since discovered that this faulty gene is hereditary and is also present in my husband (Chris), mother-in-law (Kay), and several other members of our family.
The British Heart Foundation funds vital research into heart conditions and genetic causes of disease, helping families like ours better understand these conditions and work towards improved treatments and prevention. By supporting my fundraising, you will be helping to fund research that could one day uncover what triggers this faulty gene and potentially save lives in the future.
Knowing that this challenge will not only push me out of my comfort zone but also help support the life-changing work of the British Heart Foundation makes every moment of it worthwhile and even more meaningful.
Please sponsor my Skydive with ukskydiving.com – 100% goes to the charity. Any donation, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated. Thank you for helping me honour Connor's memory and support the incredible work of the British Heart Foundation.
