Back in October 2020, my cousin Alfie was diagnosed with Stage 3 Nasopharyngeal Cancer at just 10 years old – news which devastated our family.

Thankfully, after intense chemo, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy, Alfie was later given the all clear. There has been no evidence of disease for 4 years.

During this time, Alfies Mum, Laura, was contacted by the Owen McVeigh Foundation.

The support that they offered Alfie and the Family was amazing: trips to Peacock Lodge, Football Games, Memorabilia, Christmas Parties and ensuring no struggles were faced alone.

This Foundation has been set up in memory of Owen McVeigh, who was only 11 years old when he passed away after a short diagnosis with Leukemia. The charity's goal is to help children and their families in the local area who are suffering from cancer. The Owen McVeigh Foundation is a registered charity, number 1167794.

I have ran the LLHM twice with Laura and my Dad, Gaz (Alfie's Uncle), to raise funds for the foundation and help them continue the important work they do.

This year Laura and I will be stepping even further out of our comfort zone and completing the National 3 Peaks in July 2026, something that will be a massive challenge for us both.
