Robin Hood Half Marathon 2025 · 28 September 2025 ·

On October 26th a group of our fantastic supporters will be taking part in the Run Leicester event raising funds to support cancer research and treatment.

Story

If you know me, you’ll know I’m not exactly a fan of running. I’ve tried it a few times—short runs here and there, a couple of charity 5ks, and the occasional park run—but I always end up thinking, “Nope, running just isn’t my thing.” So, when my two high school best friends signed up for a half marathon in March and suggested I joined them, my answer was a big fat “No way!”

But then life threw a curveball, my beautiful friend Alice got some heartbreaking news- her cancer has spread even further. If you don’t know Alice’s story, she was diagnosed with stage 4 triple-negative breast cancer in February 2023. Last year in May, she found out the cancer had spread to her lungs, and more recently, in April 2025, they found a tumor on her brain.

Despite everything, Alice has been nothing short of incredible. She’s been in full-on fight mode since day one, doing everything she can to beat cancer. She’s also been an absolute inspiration, raising money for charities and showing the world what true strength looks like. Check out her Instagram @ifanyonecanalicecan—it’s amazing to see how she keeps going, smiling, and giving hope to everyone around her.

Alice’s determination has totally inspired me. If Alice can keep fighting cancer, then the least I can do is push myself to run a half marathon in her honor. So, I’m joining my best friends and running the Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday 28th September 2025.

Over the next six months, I’ll be using my running journey to raise money and awareness for Hope Against Cancer. It’s a charity that means so much to Alice and her family—they’ve been there for them from the very beginning and are still supporting them two years on. Hope Against Cancer does incredible work, from funding cancer research to providing chemotherapy chairs and nursing care. Alice is even a patron for them. If you want to see the amazing things they’re doing, go follow them too @hopeagainstcancer.

I’ll probably share my running journey as well, on TikTok @_elleplowright, but I’ll figure that out as I go.

Any kind of support would mean the absolute world to me, whether it’s a donation, following my progress, or cheering me on the day. And hey, if you catch me slacking off or making excuses, don’t be afraid to call me out!

Here’s to a summer of running, health, and strength—all inspired by one incredible friend.

Love, Elle xxx
