Chiltern 50 Challenge 2023 · 23 September 2023 ·

Here for Cats was founded in November 2014 by a small, dedicated group of cat lovers in the Surrey area, all of us experienced in cat rescue and rehoming. At present we operate with a limited number of foster homes, garden pens and the use of space at a couple of local catteries. We are all volunteers contributing our time, effort and experience. In March 2017 we achieved our goal of becoming a registered charity and are ready to move onto the next phase. Our aim is to build a new exciting facility in Surrey centred around the rescue, rehabilitation and homing of cats but also providing a resource for the benefit of the whole community. Donations will help create a self-funded organisation that provides not just for today, but for the future. The centre will allow us to develop our work promoting responsible pet ownership, providing educational and community programmes to promote mutual well-being, understanding, and respect between people and animals, and include activities relevant to all.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A year and a half ago, myself and my partner came across a pair of black & white rescue kittens, listed on the Here For Cats website and started our little furry family.

Jiggly & Puff were rescued by Here For Cats in a litter of kittens who had been left out on the street in Hounslow. Someone had started to breed cats in the coronavirus lockdown, but when it became too much, they just chucked the cats outside.

After they were believed to be out on the street for several weeks, Jiggly was rescued alongside his other siblings, but they were initially unable to catch Puff. This meant that she was out on the street for an extra two weeks on her own before being reunited with her brothers & sisters.

Once Here For Cats had thankfully found these little ones, they gave them a loving foster home and the vet care & vaccinations that they needed until they were ready for their furrever home.

As soon as we heard their story and saw their adorable little faces (and little paws🥺) we instantly fell in love and couldn't leave them!

They were very shy when we first brought them home, but it has been so rewarding seeing them grow and slowly learn to trust us/new people and show off their cheeky and cuddly personalities.

We are very grateful to Here For Cats for helping these two find their way to us and hold this organisation very dear to my heart.

I will be taking on the Chiltern 50km Ultra Challenge hike on 23rd September (eek!) to raise money for Here For Cats, so that they can continue to unite other cats & kittens in need, like our Jiggly & Puff, with their furrever homes.
