Story
Brodies' Care Team are planning their latest charity challenge. In June of this year, a team of colleagues will take part in the Brodies Camino Challenge: Step Up for CHAS.
CHAS is Brodies charity partner, and our team of 22 colleagues will be trekking the final 67km of the Camino de Santiago trail, finishing in the city of Santiago de Compostela. The trek takes place over three days, with a total walking distance of 67km or 41 miles.
This challenge is inspired by the incredible work of our charity partner, CHAS. The organisation provides support to families with babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions through palliative care, family respite and support delivered by its hospices, homecare services and hospital presence. The charity is committed to making sure that no matter how short their time together may be, it is a time filled with happiness and fun.
I’d like to share my personal experience of Robin House and the incredible support my niece, Abbie, and our family received from Robin House. Abbie, together with my brother, Allen, sister-in-law, Lisa and Abbie’s wee sister and brother, Robyn and Sean spent family respite time at Robin House and were supported by the wonderful team there. Their kindness and understanding made a world of difference during some of our most difficult moments, offering practical help and emotional support as well as fun days. Abbie was cared for with such compassion during her palliative care journey and Robin House was a safe space for the whole family to come together.
And that is what our challenge is all about – helping CHAS bring happiness, comfort and care to the families who need it most and I hope you will support me and the team in our fundraising efforts.
