Story
I am running a 10k in September in honour of my wonderful mum, who died in June. I will be raising money for Choose Love, which provides humanitarian aid to refugees around the world, including in Gaza and the West Bank, and in Sudan. This is a cause that has been hugely important to both of us.
I lost my mum in June and have been finding it a struggle to continue with life as normal. But one thing that has really helped is running. If you know me well, you'll know I'm not a 'natural athlete' in any sense - the closest I used to get to sport is finding inventive ways to get out of PE classes.
But having completed Couch 2 5k, and even run 6k this week (my furthest ever!), I am challenging myself to complete the Stratford 10k in memory of my mum, and in order to raise funds for people who so desperately need help.
