Hi everyone,

I'm running the Oxford Half Marathon alongside my brother Tom, our family friends Ben and Charlie and my boyfriend Rob in memory of my mum Hazel, who we lost in April 2025.

In January mum was diagnosed with stage 4 bile duct cancer after having various ailments towards the end of 2024. Over the next three months she deteriorated quickly and spent most of the time on public hospital wards, suffering from pretty brutal and unmanageable cancer symptoms.

After one round of chemo she decided she was too poorly to benefit from any more treatment, and she was offered a place in Sobell House Hospice. We were really grateful she could be moved out of hospital into the hospice. The staff there were so compassionate and did an amazing job of looking after her (and also us) - making her final 11 days as peaceful and comfortable as possible.

We'd really like to give back to Sobell by raising money for them and would be grateful for any donations - thank you!

Mum encouraged Tom and I to get into running and has run the Oxford half herself, so it will be really special to do this for her.
