Story
As many of you know, after the birth of our second child Reggie he was postnatally diagnosed with two holes in his heart
Our care started at Alder Hey when Reggie was 4 weeks old. When he was 7 weeks old he underwent open heart surgery to fix his heart.
Unfortunately Reggie’s journey was a lot more complex, he suffered a diaphragm palsy post op, which required two further major surgeries and he was also diagnosed with tracheobronchomalacia (floppy airways)
He has been under multidisciplinary care during with 5 months of our stay on Critical Care
In total we spent almost 7 months at Alder Hey for his first admission
Without the care, support and expertise of many specialists, consultants and nursing staff we wouldn’t have the strong and happy little boy we have with us now
I’m running this race for not only Reggie, but for all the families and children that I’ve met along the way
I am not a natural runner, this race will be the hardest physical challenge I will have done, however it will remind me of the strength and resilience Reggie has faced and gone through with a smile on his face - every single day
If he can get through what he has, so can I.
He is my hero and inspiration and any donations are welcome
