Story
Shelly and I are walking a total of 81 miles by completing all of the kiltwalks this year in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh on 26th April, 1st June, 17th August and 14th September to help raise vital funds for Rainbow Rogues which is a charity based in Potterton, supporting families with children with additional support needs across Aberdeen City and the Shire
Rainbow Rogues is nothing short of a life line to families of children with additional support needs and I'm sure all families that have been helped by rogues both past and present would agree!
Our Rogues story:
Anyone that knows us knows the challenges we've faced with little Theo and poorly he has been. When we were offered the chance to attend rainbow rogues Theo was still very young and poorly, I was lost and really struggling to navigate everything and we couldn't have needed it more. However I did not imagine the support we received being what it was. I enjoyed my first hot cup of tea in about a year and that would have been enough for me, but we were so supported in every possible aspect! The wealth of knowledge and guidance was second to none and changed everything for us. Our family support workers helped us navigate through meetings and forms and applications. They helped advocate for us when I wasnt quite able to do it myself, told us what help we could get and so much more. They provided parent counseling and a safe secure place for Theo to play and explore and even now we still both look forward to our visits every single week! Having a disabled child is terrifying, but rogues make is seem like you're not alone and we would be lost without this service.
With everything rogues have done for us and continue to do we want to give something back. We're so lucky to have Shelly, who knows how important it is to us and is willing to help us raise money to help rainbow rogues continue to provide this essential service to local families 🌈♥️
