Ellie's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society

Sydney Marathon · 15 September 2024
Hi everyone! I’ll be running the Sydney marathon in September, which seems crazy to me as I’m not really a long distance runner! However, I want do to it as a way to honour my dad, who sadly passed away from early onset dementia at the age of 49. With such rapid deterioration of both behaviour and memory it creates difficult and confusing times for those diagnosed with dementia and the families involved. The Alzheimer’s society aims to provide ongoing care, support and research for everyone affected. And as there is currently still no cure and no treatment to stop the progression of dementia, it is so important to me to fund this charity to allow for more research to be done to treat symptoms and improve the lives for those living with dementia.
As my dad was a keen marathon runner and we’d spoken about running one together when I was older, I want to do this for us and follow through with the plan. I will be proudly running for the Alzheimer’s Society so if you could spare any money to put towards this amazing charity it would mean a lot to me! If not, raising awareness through this page is also invaluable so thank you so much for taking the time to read about it! Off to crack on with the training now, wish me luck (i need a lot of it) 😅!!!
