Oh crumbs”
…she would say. Concern and confusion as to why I would want to jump out a plane would show on her face. A small grimace of incredulity and a laugh at how bonkers I must be and the thought of doing such a thing. On New Years Eve last year I lost my nan to Alzheimer’s. It’s a slow disease, stealing away the memories of not only the individual but those around them. This is how I choose to remember her, as she was, with all her quirks and not how she was at the end of her fight with Alzheimer’s lying in a bed hardly able to move, open her eyes or speak, frightened, confused, only able to hold on to our hands. This is for you Nan. This is for those battling this disease and the families walking by their side.
“At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.”
