Thank you for supporting this fantastic group of runners who will be running 26.4 miles for us in April 2027. The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people affected by this rare form of bone marrow failure.

Story

Three years ago, my mum was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, a rare and serious condition that affects the bone marrow and its ability to produce blood cells. Since then, life has changed for our family in ways we never expected. She has needed regular blood transfusions, immunosuppressive treatment, and hospital care when infections have set in. It has been incredibly hard to watch someone so full of love and strength face so many challenges every day.

My mum has always been the heart of our family. She is caring, generous, and always puts others first. It is heartbreaking to see how much this illness has taken from her. My dad has also had to take on so much more at home, and as a family we are doing our best to support her through every step of this journey.

Sadly, her treatment has not worked as hoped, but there is now some hope. She has been put forward for a clinical trial called TIARA, funded by The Aplastic Anaemia Trust. The aim of this treatment is to help the body stop attacking the bone marrow so it can begin producing healthy blood cells again. For families like ours, that hope means everything. It could make such a difference not just to my mum, but to many others living with this rare disease.

I am fundraising for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust because their research, support, and commitment to better treatments give families like mine real hope for the future. I will be taking on the London Marathon 2027 on Saturday 24th April and while it will be a huge challenge, it is nothing compared to what my mum faces every day.

I would be so grateful if you could support my fundraising. Every donation, no matter the size, will help make a difference. Please donate if you can and help me support my mum, the Trust, and others affected by this rare disease. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support.
