Story
In Memory of Gareth ❤️
On Sunday 4th October, our family will be taking on the challenge of abseiling down the Europa Hotel in Belfast to raise money for Air Ambulance NI, in memory of our much-loved Gareth.
Gareth was only 20 years old when we lost him in a road traffic accident. He had his whole life ahead of him and had been looking forward to his 21st birthday, with his celebrations already planned and booked.
Instead of celebrating Gareth turning 21 as we should have been, we held his month’s mind anniversary Mass that night, surrounded by his family and friends, remembering him and celebrating the short but very special life he had lived.
Gareth worked as a welder and absolutely loved his cars. He always talked about owning a Ford Sierra someday — although, knowing Gareth, his choice of dream car could easily have changed! ❤️
But underneath it all, Gareth was simply a big softie. He was a much-loved son, family member and friend who loved life and had so much more of it still to live.
Ten years on, we wanted to do something positive in his memory. Although Gareth's accident happened in County Cavan, we chose to support Air Ambulance NI because we know how vital rapid emergency care can be when the unimaginable happens.
This abseil is for Gareth — to remember the young man he was, to keep his memory alive and, hopefully, to raise money that could one day help save another life and spare another family the heartbreak of losing someone they love.
For Gareth. Forever 20. Forever missed. Forever loved. ❤️
Every donation, no matter how small, means so much to us. Thank you for supporting our family and Air Ambulance NI.
Any donations to our challenge would be greatly appreciated...
