Thomas Smith is raising money for Amber

London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

At Amber’s residential centres disadvantaged young people have the chance to leave behind their troubled pasts. They are supported to overcome personal barriers and gain the social, educational and practical tools to lead successful, fulfilling, independent lives and be valuable members of society.

Story

We're running the London Marathon in April and if you’d like to sponsor the gradual public unravelling of two adults over 26 miles, we’d be deeply grateful.

All the money we're raising goes towards The Amber Foundation. 30 years ago Tom's Dad founded Amber and they have been successfully helping young people turn around from difficult starts to life ever since.

We're aiming to raise a whopping amount of money so we need every little bit you can give.

A lot of charities do important work, Amber does practical, life-changing work giving a safe place, proper support, and a route into independence. If you can spare anything, it genuinely helps. The impact is real and measurable, unlike our pacing strategy.

In 2024/25, across Amber's 4 centres, an incredible 184 young people moved on from Amber: 80% moved successfully into stable accommodation, 37% left with both a job and accommodation. Young adults are 48% less likely to re-offend after being at Amber, which is a hugely positive result and has a significant impact on wider society.
